Dr. Katherine Kimes has had extensive involvement both personally and professionally within the brain injury field.

Her focus is on the education of children, adolescents and young adults with acquired brain injury (ABI) throughout the transition process from rehabilitation/hospital setting to the reintegration into and within the school system and transition into post-secondary life. ABI Education Services, LLC is a platform to promote systemic change in relationship to providing appropriate educational services and supports to primary and secondary school-aged children with brain injury to improve their overall quality of life. This mission will be achieved through speaking engagements, education, consultation and advocacy services.

Katherine has a Master’s Degree in Literary and Technical Writing from DePaul University. She also has a Master’s degree in Transition Special Education with an emphasis in acquired brain injury and a Doctorate in Special Education also with a concentration in acquired brain injury, both degrees confirmed by the George Washington University. Dr. Kimes has been published in the field and has presented at various conferences and speaking engagements on the topic of the education of students after brain injury as it relates to promoting cognitive recovery. She has worked as a CSPPPD Service Coordinator and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
